I hear ya sister. I took a heat stroke hit one summer crossing the Mojave, it's good I was riding pillion that day and Lance noticed my slump, I woke up in a tub of ice water in Bishop, not an experience I wish to repeat. Silver City NM is high; like 6000' or so, so it might be a great summer destination, the road in is made of great twisties and drops. I think we hit it at the sweet spot before the winter storms arrived, they probably get snow there.
Beautiful! I would love to go there one winter (this Northern girl has sworn off the desert in summer).
